Ziyath summoned to the Police and questioned again

Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, Abdulla Ziyath has been summoned to the Police Station today as well.

Ziyath arrived at 2:30 p.m. at the Police Station and left at 5 p.m.

The journalists who went near the Police Station to confirm Ziyath’s summon to the Police were turned away.

The SO Police said that when Ziyath is at the Police Station, no journalist can enter the area and any journalist walking in the area for any reason is no permitted. But foreigners and locals are allowed in the area.

Police searched the apartment of Ziyath at H. Hiyakoalhi on 14 October under a court order and confiscated some things from his residence. And the office of MMPRC on the fourth floor of Velaanaage was also searched on Saturday night and the Police confiscated some items though it is yet unclear what exactly they took.

The court order to search the residence of Ziyath says that the apartment is being searched due to information received about information obtained by hacking into an email and listening into phone calls.
