VP meets with Chinese counterpart

Maldivian Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has met with Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao.

Chinese state media Xinhua News Agency said that during the meeting, Adeeb assured that Maldives is willing to participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road" as well as enhance cooperation with China in tourism and fishery.

Adeeb is in China to attend the Asian Political Parties' Special Conference on the Silk Road.

Other guests attending the conference include President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, Bangladesh National Assembly Speaker, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, and Deputy Chairman of Russia's State Duma, Nikolai Levichev.
