Safari boat runs aground on Guraidhoo reef

Safari boat Blue Shark has run aground on the reef near Kaafu Guraidhoo.

An eyewitness told Sun Media that the 90-foot long boat ran aground on the reef close to the entrance channel to Guraidhoo at around 6:00 a.m. today.

Refloating efforts are ongoing by a team of ten people consisting of the crew of the safari boat, and divers of the diving boat accompanying the safari boat.

Also, assistance is being provided by a group working on the construction of a harbour in Guraidhoo.

“They tried towing the boat. But it is wedged on the reef and the efforts were unsuccessful,” the eyewitness said.
