The Maldives and India signs two MoU

The Maldives and India has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU).

At the ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry today, the Maldivian Government was represented by the Foreign Ministry, Dunya Maumoon. The Indian delegation was led by the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj.

An official from the Government told Sun Media today that the two MoU signed today were to support the Maldives in the sports sector and the Foreign Institute at the Foreign Ministry. The official did not give any further details of the MoU.

The official said that trade, connectivity, education, health and heritage relations between the two countries were discussed along with the environment at the Maldives-India Joint Commission meeting today.

He said that an investor’s forum hosted by India in the Maldives was also discussed at the meeting.

The joint commission between India and the Maldives was formed in 1986 to support and strengthen relations between the two countries.
