Small aircraft crashes in Addu

A small aircraft belonging to a flight school in Addu City has crashed during landing, on the side of the runway in Gan Airport.

A Maldivian girl involved in the accident has been taken to Feydhoo Health Centre.

Mayor of Addu City Abdulla Sodig told Sun Online that the aircraft was damaged but the incident, which took place between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Thursday, was not serious.

Sodig said that the only people on-board at the time of the accident were the pilot and the student, and the pilot was unharmed.

Senior Administrator of Feydhoo Health Centre Aminath Lubna told Sun Media that there were no visible injuries on the student, and x-rays were being taken to look for internal injuries.

Lubna said that she had suffered a traumatic shock and is resting was the Observation Room.

Sodig said that a similar, non-serious accident took place some time ago as well.
