Suspicious items has been found in the Special Protection Units of the former MP for Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Nazim, former Defense Minister, Colonel-retires Mohamed Nazim and the President of Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran Abdulla at Hinmafushi Prison.
Information Officer of the Maldives Correctional Services, Moosa Rameez told Sun Media tonight that although some items were found during the search of the units, the details of those items cannot be revealed at this time.
“We cannot disclose what was found at this time.” Moosa said.
Former MP for Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Nazim was sentenced to 25 years in prison after he was convicted of misappropriation of Government funds.
Colonel-retired Nazim was sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of possession of a firearm.
And the President of Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran until his sentencing after being charged with terrorism. His case is still pending after the Prosecutor General’s Office and Sheikh Imran’s lawyers have requested the Criminal Court to hasten the process.
