The O’Level exam taken by over 7,000 students in Maldives alone, has kicked off today.

Director General of Department of Public Examinations (DPE) Ahmed Shakeeb said that the first exam, for Travel and Tourism, is under way in all islands.

A total of 5,365 students from 192 schools and 1,701 students from 47 private centres will take the exam.

This includes 2,680 students from 21 schools in Malé and 3,685 from 171 schools in other islands, and 667 students from three private centres in Malé and 1,034 from 44 private centres in other islands.

The number of students taking the O’Level exam has gone down this year. Last year, it was taken by 7,202 students from 194 schools.
