Dr Shakeela appointed as Environment Minister

President Dr Mohamed Waheed has today established the Ministry of Environment and Energy, and appointed Dr Mariyam Shakeela as the Minister, and presented her the letter of appointment.

The President’s Office said that before the presentation of the letter of appointment, Dr Shakeela took the oath of office before Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef.

President Waheed has established two new Ministries subsequent to Parliament approval. Former SAARC Secretary General Dhiyana Saeed was appointed Minister of Human Rights.
