Sri Lankan tourist dies while swimming in Hulhumal

A Sri Lankan tourist has died after drowning while swimming in Hulhumalé.

Police Media Official said that the Sri Lankan national died while undergoing treatment at the Hulhumalé Hospital.

The man drowned at the swimming platform on the east side of Hulhumalé.

When the drowning was reported, officers in the area swam to him and brought him ashore.

“Two minutes after it was reported Police had brought him ashore.” Police Media Official said.

The photo Police released after starting first aid on the man shows first aid being given on the platform. The picture shows a large number of people including children in the area while the Police perform first aid.

The depth at the swimming area with the platform is between 15-20 feet during high tide.
