Maldivian hajj pilgrim dies in Mecca

A Maldivian hajj pilgrim has died in Mecca last night.

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Ziyad Bagir told Sun Online that the deceased has been named as Gasim Mohamed, 77, from Alifu Dhaalu Mahibadhoo.

Gasim Mohamed was being treated for kidney problems and tuberculosis, and passed away in the hospital.

Ziyad noted that pilgrims often fail to present their health records to relevant authorities.

He urged all pilgrims to inform their respective hajj groups and Islamic Ministry their health condition, especially if they are suffering from chronic illnesses.
