Makunudhoo runs out of basic foods

As the transportation comes to a halt due to bad weather, H.Dh. Makunudhoo Council has said that they have run out of basic foods.

Vice President of the Makunudhoo Council, Ibrahim Waheed told Sun Media that they have run out of basic foods and it has been a week since they haven’t got rice, sugar and flour.

“Right now, the boat that is to come to the island is at Malé, unable to leave due to bad weather. It’s been two-three days trying to leave. But waiting on the weather.” Councilor Waheed said.

He said that no shop on the island has the basic foods now and it is causing difficulty to a large number of people living on the island.

“Before, it is brought from Kulhudhuffushi as well. But now that ferry is also cancelled because it’s impossible to travel due to rough seas.” Waheed said.

He said that the boat at Malé is thinking about departing tomorrow but they won’t leave if the weather doesn’t allow it.
