Driving license of the container truck driver has been suspended

The driving license of the container truck driver, who hit a street post which led to the death of the 24-year-old Azfa Zuhair, has been suspended.

Police Media Official confirmed to Sun Media tonight that the driving license of the container truck driver who was involved in the incident has been suspended and that they cannot give any further details in the case.

“The license of the container lorry driver has been suspended. Maldives Police Service is investigating the case. We cannot give any details since the investigation is ongoing.” Police Media Official said.

Although no one has been arrested in the case so far, Police say that the investigation in underway.

Housing Ministry has previously said that the post that hit Azufa’s head was at the corner of Block 392, within the property visible to Izzuddeen Magu.

The Ministry said that the post was decorated as a palm tree on the occasion of the country’s 50th Independence Day.

The street post fell on the victim, Azfa’s head while she was on the back seat of a motorcycle.

While the post has been removed after the incident, the Housing Ministry did not say why the post was left visible to the street past the 50th Independence Day celebrations.

Azfa Zuhair was a medical student studying in Russia visiting home for the holidays.
