A hotel in Mecca with Hajj pilgrims has caught fire

A hotel with a large number of Hajj pilgrims have caught fire in Mecca. There have been no reports of any Maldivian pilgrims staying in the building.

International media is reporting as per the Saudi Civil Defense Agency saying that about 1000 Asian Pilgrims staying at the hotel has been evacuated.

At least two people have been injured in the fire. It is yet unclear the extent of their injuries or their nationalities. The Saudi Civil Defense Agency says, according to Times of India, that the two people injured in the incident is now being treated. They have not released the name of the hotel.

Media Coordinator at the Hajj Mission in Mecca, Ali Shareef told Sun Media tonight that the fire started at a hotel in Mecca's Aziziya neighborhood and it was not an area that Maldivians go to. And he said that the Hajj Mission is confirmed that there aren’t any Maldivians at the hotel.
