Final workshop on renewable energy roadmap under way

The final workshop on the roadmap prepared by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) regarding the development of the renewable energy sector in the Maldives, is under way in Kurumba Maldives.

The workshop is organised by IRENA in collaboration with the Maldivian government.

Ministry of Environment and Energy said that the purpose of the workshop is to share information related the actions detailed in the roadmap with relevant authorities, and discuss those actions.

The workshop is attended by roughly 40 representatives from Ministry of Environment and Energy, Maldives Energy Authority, Maldives Meteorological Service, State Electric Company (STELCO), Fenaka Corporation, and resorts.

In his opening speech, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, said that some components of the roadmap have already been implemented in the Maldives.
