High Court Judge Abbas Shareef has retired citing health reasons.
Judicial Service Commission (JSC) said in a statement issued today that it has accepted Shareef’s request to retire with effect from 1 October 2015.
The commission said that doctor’s documents accompanying Shareef’s letter show that he has serious health concerns that make him unfit for his duties as a judge.
Shareef has served as a High Court Judge since 2011.
He has also served as the president’s representative in JSC, Director General of President’s Office, and in the Committee of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
