Applications open for the Integrity Commission

Applications have been opened for the National Integrity Commission.

A statement from the President’s Office yesterday says that applications for the membership of the National Integrity Commission are to be submitted before the end of office hours at 30 September.

Regulations of the Integrity Commission say that applicants for the membership have to have 11 qualifications. They include being a Muslim Maldivian, having the first degree and seven years of employment experience along with not being a member of any political party and have no direct relative who works in the judicial system.

The President’s Office said that along with the application, a Police report must be submitted as well.

According to the law, there is to be five members on the National Integrity Commission.

The law says that the Integrity Commission has authority over four institutes of the state. They are, Maldives Police Service, Department of Immigration and Emigration, Maldives Correctional Service and Maldives Customs Service.

Responsibilities of the National Integrity Commission include investigation of unlawful activities by law enforcement agencies. And they would investigate any suspicions of such crimes or intentions of such crimes that are reported to the Commission.
