Supreme Court: Government institutes would represented in Court by AG

Supreme Court has decided that the Attorney General would be representing the Government institutes in the Courts.

An open letter issued by the Supreme Court today said that in the matters outside the Prosecutor General’s responsibilities, the Attorney General would be representing the Government Institutes as per Article 113-C of the Constitution.

And so in the cases presented by Government institutes and in those against them, the Government institutes would be represented by the Attorney General, says the letter.

Article 133-C of the Constitution says that the Attorney General has the right to be present and talk at all courts. And outside the responsibilities assigned to the Prosecutor General in this Constitution, the Government would be represented at the Courts by the Attorney General or someone assigned by the Attorney General.

The letter says that with the implementation of this, the Court’s open letter 04/2011 and it’s procedure to submit to the court as per the letter would be nullified.
