Abdul Raheem: The biggest asset of PPM is President Maumoon

Vice President of PPM and the MP for the Funadhoo constituency, Abdul Raheem Abdulla has said that the biggest asset of PPM is the former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and there is PPM member that is against it.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the second conference to train campaign leaders for " President Yamin 2018", Abdul Raheem said that President Maumoon deserve praise for his work during his presidency and at PPM.

“There is no doubt that PPM was founded by President Maumoon, the most valued reserve or asset of PPM is President Maumoon. I am sure there is no one who would disagree on this at PPM. There is no one.” Abdul Raheem said.

While Abdul Raheem has said this, some of the MPs of PPM have supported the bill of amendment to the Law of Political Parties that would lose the Presidency of PPM from the former President. And there are rumors that the amendment is causing conflict within the party.

Speaking at the convention where President Maumoon was also in attendance, Abdul Raheem said that PPM would not exist without President Maumoon and President Yamin. And even if the opposition spread rumors to create conflict in the party, PPM would always move forward.

Vice President of PPM, Abdul Raheem said that “President Yamin did not come into power and started ruling in a rose-bed.”

He said that when President Yamin came into power, the country was in a dangerous state but now the country’s grief has been turned to hope by the President.

Noting that the country was in a critical stage when President Yamin came into power, Abdul Raheem said that the country has achieved great success now.

“In the past two years or so his (the President’s) hard work has achieved a lot of success to the country. With joy I want to say that our grief has been turned to hope today.” Abdul Raheem said.
