Izzuddin Jetty area vacated

Fishing boats have been removed from the area between Izzuddin Jetty and the eastern side of Local Market, following a decision to issue this space for commercial purposes.

At a press conference last week, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu said that fishing boats had been notified to vacate the area before today, Thursday, 10 September 2015.

He said that Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has designated part of the west harbour, to the left of the Local Market, for the boats that have been asked to move.

Jetties previously known as Jetty 1 and Jetty 2 are now part of Izzuddin Jetty, which was inaugurated at the end of last month.

Dr Muizzu said that following the recent change, Jetty 3 would be used by the police and Jetty 4 by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
