A Bangladeshi man who imported cannabis to the Maldives through the airport has been fined with MVR 100,000 and sentenced to life in prison.
The verdict from the Criminal Court today said that they find the Bangladeshi national, Rafeek, guilty of the charge against him of cannabis trafficking. And the verdict said that the man confessed that the drugs found on him and inside the cigarette box found in his bag at his residence was his.
And while his confession proves that the drugs were his, the drugs found at his residence have been proved to cannabis of 38.7356 grams from the investigation report.
“Finding Rafeek guilty of cannabis trafficking, as punishment for his crime, he is fined with MVR 100,000 and sentenced to life in prison and end this trial ordering him to pay this money within one month from today to the Criminal Court.” The sentence from the Criminal Court said.
