Department of Immigration and Emigration receives certificate for ISO standard passport service

The certificate has been presented to the Department of Immigration and Emigration to provide the Maldivian passport service in the standard of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Immigration signed an agreement with Mediquip Maldives Pvt. Ltd. to meet the Maldivian passport quality to the ISO 9001 standard last June.

At the ceremony held at Immigration today, the certificate was presented to the Controller of Immigration, Mohamed Anwar by the Chairman of Mediquip, Mohamed Rasheed.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Economic Minister, Mohamed Saeed said that the service provided by the Government institutes has to be provided at a fast speed to the people.

“The different ISO classified standards is a widely used standard by the international businesses. If one is introducing service of world ISO standard, it is very important to keep that that service in a specific standard.” Minister Saeed said.

Immigration said that the service of passports and issuing of other travel documents is the highest in quality and the most accepted by the people among the services provided by them.

Department of Immigration and Emigration said that the Maldivian passport is created to the standard of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and that ICAO is a standard for the passport creating and security standard.
