Home Minister: Perpetrators in the attack on Mahfooz will be brought to justice

Home Minister, Umar Naseer has said that the people who attacked Mahfooz Saeed, who is part of the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s defense team, will be brought to justice.

Minister Umar Naseer tweeted today saying that the government condemns the “barbaric attack.”

Govt strongly condemns the barbaric attack on Mahfooz, which has come after a prolonged period of calm. Perpetrators will face justice.

While the Home Minister has said this, there have been no arrests in the case so far.

Mahfooz was attacked on Maaveyo Magu near the store Vaadhee Fresh by people on a motorcycle.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has said that he is now recovering after going through surgery. Media Official of IGMH, Zeenath Ali Habeeb told Sun Media earlier today that he went under a serious three hour surgery following the attack. And that his condition is good after the operation.

Mahfooz was attacked with a knife close to his eye socket on the side of his head. The hospital’s media official said that the latest tests post-surgery shows no complications to his vision.
