HRCM condemns the attack on Mahfooz

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has condemned the attack on Mahfooz Saeed, who is part of the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s defense team, that took place sometime yesterday in the strongest terms.

The Commission issued a statement calling for swift action from the government institutes to bring those involved to justice.

And so called on all the citizens to support and cooperate with the investigative institutes of the state.

“While the right to live is one of the fundamental rights of every human being, the Commission is very concerned that these attacks keep taking place.” The statement from the HRCM says.

HRCM further called to protect human rights and planning and executing such attacks to those working for the benefit of the people is something that obstructs the human rights.

And so the statement called on the government institutes to proceed with special care to stop such acts.
