The woman who was by the street post last night has died

The woman, who was hit by a falling street post after it was broken when a truck carrying a container hit it, has died under treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The Media Official of the hospital, Zeenath Ali Habeeb said that she died at 2:28 p.m. during treatment at the emergency room.

Sources say that she was 24-year-old Azufa Zuhaie of Hithadhoo, Addu City.

IGMH has previously said that she sustained serious injuries to her head and spine.

The incident took place on Izzuddin Magu near the Housing Ministry and the cafés at the south west harbor.

Witnesses say that she was immediately taken to the hospital after she was struck by the post.

Police Media Official told Sun Media today that the driver left the scene because he was unaware that an incident took place.

Police said that they are investigating further.
