A local who has been producing and selling alcohol has been arrested

A local man in N. Velidhoo who has been producing and selling alcohol has been arrested.

A 33-year-old man was arrested the fight against drugs by the Velidhoo Police.

Police said that the arrest was made following a tip by the Velidhoo Police and the officers Special Operations Department operating in the island at this time. And so a house was searched with a court order.

During the search operation of the house, three jerry cans of alcohol along with the tools used to prepare them were found at a worn out storage.

The man arrested has was stopped and questioned twice for multiple offences according to the Police. And so he was detained at the Police station seven times and was arrested four times.

Police said that three different cases against the man have been sent for prosecution to the PG Office. He also has a record with the Police for theft, robbery and drugs.

Velidhoo Magistrate Court has added seven days to the remand of the man to keep them in custody at a location set by the Home Ministry to continue the investigation.
