Siyam: No right to say the nation was developed by a specific person

Leader of MDA and the MP for Meedhoo constituency, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has said that no citizen has the right to say that the nation was developed by on specific person and it was not a specific leader that developed the country and provided the basic services to the people.

Speaking at the opening of the MDA Youth Hall last night, Siyam said that even 40 years ago, the country’s leaders tried to provide the services needed by the people.

“Mohamed Ameen, Ibrahim Nasir and Maumoon Abdul Gayoom also did this (development of the country). So building homes and providing services to the people would be done like this. The elderly would know this.” Siyam said.

He said that leaders have been working to make the sure the country has enough since the time of the kings.

The MDA leader said that a group of people attempted to develop the country about four years ago. But the development was halted because they didn’t know how to do it.

“We have to know what development is for our country. A country, a community has to know where the development lies. We don’t have a large population or land, a very few people live here. If we develop this small population properly, the Maldivian people would have a rich, beautiful life.” Siyam said.

Noting that the uninhabited islands were for such sea creatures before, a large number of investments have started coming since the current Government took power and a lot of islands have been developed and a lot of people are benefiting from it.

He said that country’s development lies in unity and development cannot be achieved individually. And he said that other countries in the world were developed with hard work as well.
