35 illegal foreign workers arrested

Department of Immigration and Emigration has taken 35 illegal foreign workers into custody following an operation in Malé.

Spokesperson for Immigration Department Hassan Khaleel told Sun Online that 19 of them were taken under arrest near Zikra Mosque, and 16 near T-jetty.

Illegal foreigners who are identified and arrested by authorities are repatriated.

Presently, there are 160 illegal foreign workers under Immigration Department’s supervision.
