High Court: No decision made about accepting Nasheed

High Court has said that they have not yet decided whether to accept or not the appeal of the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s 13-year prison sentence by the Criminal Court.

The court issued a statement today saying that a meeting was held today to pass the things that needs to be passed before deciding to accept the case or not when the documents of Nasheed’s case are received by the court.

And the statement said that a decision has not been made since there still are things that need to be passed before moving forward.

Nasheed was sentenced to 13 years in prison in March 2015 for ordering the abduction in 2012, during his presidency, of Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed.

The state has appealed President Nasheed’s 13-year prison sentence at the High Court upon request from the former President.
