Criminal Court has formed a Judge’s Bench for the case of Sheikh Imran Abdulla, the President of Adhaalath Party who is currently in Police custody charged with terrorism.

Sources say that the bench formed by the Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, Abdulla Mohamed includes for judge on the bench, Judge Abdulla Baaree Yousuf, Judge Ahmed Sameer Abdul-Aziz and Judge Abdulla Nasheed.

Judge Abdulla Mohamed established the bench under the power authorized to the Chief Judges under the Law of Courts.

State has accused Sheikh Imran of firing up the protesters participating in the “Against Oppression” protest held on May, 2015; which led to protesters to break free of the barricades set by police and injure police and damage private property.

Sheikh Imran was charged in reference to 2 (a), under 6 (b) of Anti-Terrorism Act.
