The Court has given more time to appoint a lawyer to the man on trial for the murder of the Bangladeshi national, Baand Shahumiya in L. Gan.
The state has charged Ali Hamza of L. Gan was charged murder with intention for the murder of Baan Shahumiya.
In today’s hearing, the prosecutors said that they would submit a letter to the PG’s Office to hasten the process of appointing a lawyer to Hamza.
The judge on the case, Judge Mohamed Nasheed said that the next hearing in the trial would be on 20 August and to find a lawyer before then.
On the first hearing of the trial, the prosecutors said that that they charge Ali Hamza with first degree murder for assaulting Baan Shahumiya on the face with a wood beam of three feet while he was asleep on 9 June 2015.
The defendant responded to the charge saying that he wants to respond to the charge in the presence of a lawyer.
