Hulhumalé Development Corporation (HDC) has said that it would take two-three years to completely finish the Central Park opened at the Hulhumalé Youth City last night.
In a special interview to Sun Media last night, the Managing Director of HDC, Mohamed Siman said that the Park was opened ahead of it’s completion to give the public the opportunity to use it.
“There are civil builds that comes to that place (Central Park). According to the plan now, there is a convention center and an Islamic center to come there. A complete central park with all these places would take two-three years or later than that.” Siman said.
The Hulhumalé Youth City Central Park, which began it’s construction last December, was scheduled to be opened in January.
HDC has previously said that the opening was delayed due to a small change to the drawing and also with the unavailability of some of the tools needed was also part of the delay.
The Managing Director of HDC said that the Hulhumalé Central Park would be developed as a peaceful place for the public.
The eight hector park was opened last night with pyrotechnics and a fireworks display along with a children’s skating event.
