President Maumoon has left for Egypt

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has left for Egypt today to take part in the conference against religious extremism.

President Maumoon’s office said that the former President was invited to the conference led by Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyya held on 17 – 18 August by Sheikh Dr. Shawki Ibrahim Allam, Grand Mufti of Egypt.

The former President’s office said that representatives and scholars from over 50 countries are taking part in the international Islamic conference. And the former President is scheduled to give a formal speech at the conference.

They also said that President Maumoon is schedule to visit the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Tuesday.
