President Abdulla Yameen has said that he is closely monitoring the damage to people’s homes and property in Addu City and Fuvahmulah caused by bad weather.
In a statement issued today, the president said that he has met with officials of relevant institutions to obtain information related to the level of damage.
He also said that government offices and other relevant institutions are working together to provide assistance to those affected by the strong winds and heavy rains.
“Be assured that I am directly monitoring the efforts by relevant institutions to provide protection to the people and reduce damage,” read the statement.
He also warned the public and urged people to take protection measures against the sea swells being experienced in many islands.
