First Lady attends event for children with special needs

First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim has attended Ufaaveri Haveeru, an event for children with special needs.

The event was organised by Maldives Association of Physical Disables (MAPD) and held at Henveyru stadium this evening.

It was launched at 4:00 p.m. by Deputy Minister of Youth Naif Shaukath.

Fathimath Ibrahim presented awards from MAPD to children with special needs who took part at the event.

Awards were presented to 140 participants.

The event is held every month.

Today’s event was sponsored by Simdi Group.

An official of MADP told Sun Online that a team of doctors from a hospital in Bangalore are will visit Maldives soon, to conduct tests for people with special needs.

After the visit and as advised by the doctors, the people will have the chance to visit the hospital Bangalore and receive treatment under Aasandha insurance scheme, he said.

He added that people with special needs can improve with proper treatment.

MAPD has also arranged a photography course for people with special needs, set to begin on 25 August. The course is also sponsored by Simdi Group.
