The bill was rejected with the vote of 57 members.

The bill was proposed by Majlis Deputy Speaker, Hulhu-Henveiru MP Moosa Manik to change retirement age from 55 years to 60 years.

It also proposed that those who voluntarily or involuntarily retire should be given pension retirement benefit in accordance with Pension Act.
