Investigation begins on the pregnancy of a 16-year-old school girl

Police have investigating the pregnancy of a 16-year-old school girl at an island in Shaviyani Atoll.

Police Media Official confirmed to Sun Media today that they are investing such a case in Sh. Atoll.

Sharing the details, an Island Council Member in Shaviyani Atoll told Sun Media that the Police and the Gender Ministry are investigating the pregnancy of the school girl who is studying in Grade. 9.

Rumor on the island is that she got pregnant with her boyfriend who is also in the island school and is also a minor.

“That 16-year-old girl is pregnant, she is five months along, they say.” The Council Member said.

The Council said that the girl has no prior records to suggest this type of behavior. The girl is no longer attending school due to her pregnancy.
