The mother of the infant found dead in Thulhaadhoo has been arrested

Maldives Police Service has arrested the mother of the infant found dead in B. Thulhaadhoo five days ago.

The Police Media Official confirmed to Sun Media that the mother of the infant found dead in B. Thulhaadhoo on 29 July was arrested this evening with a court order.

The still born out of wedlock was found in the drainage at the toilet, according to doctors, in less than 48 hours after the 18-year-old mother prematurely gave birth to the baby in seven months.

Police have said that they have a special team in Thulhaadhoo still conducting an investigation and there have been no arrests made so far.

The still born was brought to Malé for a medical examination and has been buried.

Thulhaadhoo Island Council has said that the baby was a still born and the people of the island knew she was pregnant only after she gave birth.
