Indian Foreign Secretary: India will always help the Maldives

India has reassured the Maldives that they would always help the Maldives.

At his meeting today with the Vice President Ahmed Adheeb in his visit to the Maldives, the Indian Foreign Secretary, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said that India would always help and support the Maldives.

The Indian High Commission in the Maldives said that the Indian Foreign Secretary arrived in the Maldives as part of his friendly visits to the countries of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

He met with the Vice President in his visit to the President’s Office.

The Indian Foreign Secretary has visited Bhutan, Pakistan and Afghanistan in his “SAARC Yatra” trip to strengthen Indian ties with the SAARC countries.

Indian new outlets say that the Indian Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is not discussing SAARC issues on his “SAARC Yatra” travels but on the relations between India and the visiting countries.

The Indian Foreign Secretary was greeted at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport by Maldivian Foreign Secretary, Dr. Ali Naseer and the Indian High Commissioner in the Maldives, Rajeev Shahare.
