Telecommunications company Ooredoo has been granted the Internet Service Provider (ISP) Licence.
The licence was presented by Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer and accepted by Ooredoo CEO Vikram Singh, at a ceremony this morning.
Telecommunications Authority said at a press conference today that two companies - Ooredoo and MediaNet - had applied for ISP Licence.
Speaking at the ceremony, Umar Naseer said that internet has become a basic need, and the government’s “national broadband policy” gives priority to providing high speed internet to the people.
He also highlighted the importance of competition in reducing prices and improving the standard of services.
