The Official Jetty, which has undergone major renovations on the occasion of the National Independence Day, is to be opened tomorrow night.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said that the opening ceremony would be held tomorrow night at 9 p.m. at the Republic Square. And the Official Jetty would be reopened by the President, Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom.
The jetty was originally scheduled to be opened last Sunday on the night of the country’s 50th Independence Day. But the renovation of the jetty could not be completed due to bad weather.
The CEO of the contractor of the project, MTCC, Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem previously said that the new Jetty is a lot more spacious that the previous one and a lot more cultural.
