First Lady, Fathimath Ibrahim opens an area in the Sultan Park with plastic trees lit by LED lights.
President Abdulla Yamin, Vice President, Ahmed Adheeb and other senior officials of the government attended the opening ceremony of the “Hulhudhaan Bageechaa” (Bright-lit Garden).
Talking about the garden, Home Minister Umar Naseer said that the garden was completed in 48 hours by Customs.
“This 50th Independence Day has been a function that has been the most lighted up, the brightest, loudest and second to none.” Home Minister Umar Naseer said.
A shield was awarded to Customs in tonight’s ceremony commemorating their hard work.
Senior Superintendent of Customs who worked at the Park, Ahmed Niyaz told Sun Media that a total of 72 plastic trees that would be lit by LED lights are installed at the park.
“Those are trees found in a garden that has been arranged and lit.” Customs Superintendent Niyaz said.
There are the locally adored to different colored plants among the 72 LED lit trees. The park is prepared so that people can walk among the trees and enjoy while taking pictures.
The government has decided to keep park that used to look eerie at night all lit up and easy on the eyes. And so the entire park is to be lit with LED lights everyday starting at 6 p.m.
