Shahid: I voted for the amendment of foreign ownership of land with sincerity

MP for the North-Henveiru constituency and member of the MDP Parliamentary Group, Abdulla Shaahid has said that he voted for the amendment that allows foreign ownership of land with sincerity.

MP Shaahid posted on his personal Facebook page that the Leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group, Ibrahim Mohamed Soalih and the MPs of MDP should act sincerely but it did not succeed this time.

And he said that some people are smearing him on social media because he voted how the government asked.

MP Shahid said that he did not leave DRP and join MDP for money but he joined MDP while he was the president of the Parliament because they have good policies.

After the President of MDP Mohamed Nasheed was sentenced to 13 years in prison, MP Shahid said that the MDP Congress gave the full authority to the Leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group, Ibrahim Mohamed Soalih to negotiate with the government. And the terms agreed at those negotiations were being fulfilled by the MDP Congress.

“When it all ended, the result we wanted to achieve did not happen. That happened not because the party failed to deliver something they had to do.” MP Shahid said.
