The government has banned vehicles from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm this Saturday to provide the opportunity of decorating or viewing the decorations to as many people as possible in the eve of the country’s 50th Independence Day.
Chairman of Transport Authority Abdul Rasheed Nafiz informed Sun Online on Saturday that large number of people including children were out on the streets of the capital Male’ to view the Independence Day decorations.
“There were difficulties even last night with a lot of people out on the streets. We therefore arranged for people to be on foot as per request of a lot of people,” said Abdul Rasheed Nafiz.
Nafiz said that those who traveled on vehicles on Saturday between 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm would be penalized.
