Sheikh Imran moved to Maafushi Prison

Sheikh Imran Abdulla who is in Police custody charged with terrorism has been moved to Maafushi Prison.

Sources say that Sheikh Imran was moved to Maafushi sometime today. He was previously kept at the Dhoonidhoo Detention Center.

He was moved to Dhoonidhoo Detention Center following a court order from the Criminal Court last month to keep him in custody until the end of his trial.

The Criminal Court said that said that Sheikh Imran was ordered into Police custody due to the nature of the case and after reviewing the Police Intelligence reports of how the events took place.

Sheikh Imran was arrested for inciting violence during the protest, which culminated in several police officers being assaulted by protesters.
