MDP puts out a three-line whip to remove the Vice President

Opposition MDP has put out a three-line whip to vote for the No Confidence motion against the Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed to remove him from power.

Deputy President of the MDP Parliamentary Group and the MP for the Addu-Meedhoo constituency, Rozaina Adam tweeted tonight saying that a three-line whip have been put out tonight.

She also said that a No Confidence Motion against President Yamin’s Vice President is not an MDP issue.

The No Confidence Motion against the Vice President Dr. Jameel has been put on the agenda for the Parliament session tomorrow. The notice of the motion was sent to the Vice President from the Parliament on 30 June.

Vice President Dr. Jameel has said that responding on his behalf to the Parliament would be his lawyer, Husnu Suood. But the Parliament said today that the Vice President himself has to answer for himself at the Parliament.

A letter sent to the Vice President’s lawyer, Husnu Suood with the signature of the President of the Parliament, Abdulla Maseeh says that the Vice President has to respond to the no confidence motion against him directly.

The Vice President was asked to answer directly under Article 100-D of the Constitution.

Members of the PPM Parliamentary Group say that Vice President Dr. Jameel would be removed from power before 26 July and the Tourism Minister, Ahmed Adheeb would be taking over the position.

President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom himself has said that he has no confidence in Dr. Jameel and shared his reasons with the Parliamentary Groups of PPM and MDA.
