VP: MPs have been bribed to pass no-confidence motion

Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that MPs have been given “allowances” as bribes to vote in favour of the no-confidence motion against him, and that this will be revealed “today or tomorrow”.

The VP said this in a statement in his defence against the motion, issued today.

He said that it will be revealed how uninhabited islands, lands, and other benefits were handed out – presumably to MPs.

Those behind the efforts to remove a Vice President elected by the people, may be able to hide their actions from the public today, but their actions will be revealed tomorrow, he said.

He urged MPs to think about their responsibilities, oath, the rights of the people, and the interests of the nation, and reminded them that there will be a day when they would have to answer for their actions.
