Police: Azleef

Police have said that they are investigating the case of Azleef Rauf, a suspect in the murder of Dr. Afrasheem, leaving the country claiming to take part to take part in a foreign war.

President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom said last night that the Police have been ordered to investigate his departure.

Police Media Official told Sun Media today that the Police have started the investigation. No further details were shared.

“So far we can say that the case is under investigation.” The Police Media Official said.

Azleef left to Syria in early January claiming he was going to take part in the war. It is believed that suspects in other criminal cases went with him.

The cases of Azleef and some others were sent to the PG’s Office to prosecute for conspiracy to muder Dr. Afrasheem. But the case was rejected due to lack of evidence.
