Fingers of an MPL staff have been crushed under a steel pipe used to lift containers.
Sources say that his fingers got stuck when the “spreader” of the crane used to life containers fell. The incident took place on a cargo ship docked at the MPL area.
An official of the MPL told Sun Media that the staff’s four fingers from both hands were crushed in the incident today around 11:30. The official said that he sustained no other injuries aside from the crushed fingers.
The MPL staff injured in the incident is being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
He is to leave the country tonight at 8:30 p.m. for treatment due to seriousness of the injury.
Media Official of IGMH, Zeenath Ali Habeeb told Sun Media that they are treating the MPL staff that got his fingers crushed.
She said that the two fingers of his left hand suffered the most.
