Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer has called on families, the legislature, and implementation authorities to cooperate with honesty in the fight against the nationwide problem of drugs.
This came in the minister’s statement on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, marked on 26 June.
Highlighting that the biggest challenge in the fight against drugs is the victims’ families’ attempts to hide the situation from the authorities, Umar Naseer said that the efforts to save the country from drugs can only be successful if everyone fulfils their responsibilities as individuals.
To that effect, he called on families to report suspected drug abuse to the police.
He added that drug addiction is not a disease, but a horrible sin, and noted the importance of faith in the religion in God in the rehabilitation and recovery.
