Police: 24 accidents in the first five days

Maldives Police Service has said that a total of 24 traffic accidents have occurred in the country in this Ramadan.

Police said that most of the 24 accidents in the past five days weren’t serious and there was minimal property damage.

But four people have sustained various injuries in the two traffic collisions in Addu City. One of them is now receiving treatment at ADK Hospital in Malé City.

While Ramadan is a high traffic accident month, Police say they are conducting multiple operations focused on road safety.

“Police are working hard especially high traffic land transportation areas like Malé, Addu City and L. Atoll trying to reduce traffic accidents and minimize injury to people and property.” Police said.

Police have brought some changed to the traffic regulation in Malé for this Ramadan, changing the direction some of the roads can be travelled on.
